about the Foundations of Phonology course

The BA programme in English offers a series of three phonlogy courses for students. The first one, which is taken by everyone, is Foundations of Phonology (a.k.a. Baby Phonology). This is where you are now.

In the second year, major and minor students (but not teacher trainees/OTAK) take the core phonology course. This is accompanied by a seminar course too, which teacher trainees are expected to take, but is optional for minor students. In the third year, students specializing in English (but not in American studies) have a third, advanced course, Phonological Analysis.

assessment

Your progress will be assessed at a written examination. The overall passing rate is slightly above 60%. Here are the details (so in spring 2007 at the first session 105 students sat the exam and 43 of them passed, etc; the red results were produced at online examinations):
