This course aims to introduce students to the field of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) through a dual approach which involves 1.) an overview of the important theoretical concepts which form the basis of ESP instruction and 2.) practical exercises which will provide students with experience in planning their own ESP courses and lessons. The course will center on the four most important aspects of ESP: needs analysis, setting learning objectives, choosing materials and methods, and evaluation. Students will be assessed on the basis of the content knowledge that they gained from the course and will also be expected to complete writing and speaking tasks.
