Dr. Irwin Appel, theatre-maker and professor from the University of California, Santa Barbara will give a lecture (13 June, 5 pm, Room 423) and a theatre workshop (14 June, 3-6pm, Rm 423/a) for anyone interested in (acting) Shakespeare. Please inform your students about this opportunity!

“When My Cue Comes Call Me”: Naked Shakes and a Life in Shakespearean Theater
Irwin Appel is Professor of Theater and Chair of the Department of Theater and Dance at the University of California Santa Barbara. As a professional director, actor, composer and sound designer, he has worked with leading theater companies in the United States and abroad, including the Prague Shakespeare Company, the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Orlando Shakes, the New York, Oregon, Utah, New Jersey and Colorado Shakespeare Festivals and Southwest Shakespeare Company. He is artistic director of Naked Shakes, presenting actor-based Shakespeare plays nationally and internationally since 2006. This summer, he will be playing the role of Sir John Falstaff in Henry IV, Part 1 at the Prague Shakespeare Company in the Czech Republic. He is a graduate of Princeton University and the Juilliard School.
